Quick and Easy Sweet and Sour Chicken

This quick and easy sweet and sour chicken recipe was given to me at one of my bridal showers from a family friend. It’s one of the few recipes I received that day, that I still use. It takes only 5 ingredients and a few minutes to throw everything together in the crockpot and go about your day.                 Check out and purchase Epicure’s 3 Onion Mix     I hesitated to share this picture, because it’s embarrassingly disgusting. Even after I filtered the heck out of it! But it just shows how often I’ve made it. It’s so good!       Over…

    Meal Planning

Meal planning is a great way to help save on money, time and your sanity.  I’ve been meal planning for years for the simple fact that 1. I love making lists and it gives my family a visual for our week ahead. And 2., it helps to use up the food you’ve got on hand. Especially that food that gets piled on at the bottom of your freezer or pantry items you’ve been struggling with how to incorporate into a meal. I don’t have or use anything fancy for our meal plans.  Just use a piece of paper in a folder where I keep all of my t0-do, to-buy, to-fix…

    Puppy Chow

This Puppy Chow is NOT for our 4 legged friends, sorry pups!   Puppy Chow is a nutty, chocolaty, crunchy, messy sinful and SO easy to make treat.  My Grandma Smith made this every year for Christmas when we were kids.  It was a fun and yummy treat all of us Smith grand kids seemed to love.  Grandmas always do make the best things, right!? Now, just a couple of decades later, I’ve introduced it to my boys and it’s already become a new favourite at Christmas time. It’s such a fun treat to put out at/bring to holiday functions.  There usually always seems to be one newbie that looks…

    Christmas Crack

One of our favourite things my boys and I love to do at Christmas time is making cookies and treats. A few years ago I came across a new (to me) recipe. It was called: ‘Christmas Crack.’  I’m sure you can make your own assumption as to why it’s called that! 😉 This quick treat is so easy to make, and I can almost guarantee that it will soon be one of your favs too! My oldest son, Reed, has joined me in making this yummy treat for the past few years now.  He and I make this together and my youngest, Jack, and I make ‘Puppy Chow,’ together. *Side…

    Golden Garlic Chicken Thighs

Alright guys.  Are you ready for an easy and super satisfying chicken recipe?  I really don’t need to talk this one up because it really sells itself; truly love at first bite.  Garlic, turmeric, chicken thighs….what’s not to love!?  I came across this recipe last year and it called for chicken thighs.  I haven’t cooked chicken thighs in years because I’ve just always preferred white meat.  But, I have to say, I did (and will continue to) make this with chicken thighs.  It’s delicious!!  My boys love dark meat chicken and this dish is now a recurring meal in our house. The original recipe called for chili powder but I…

    Mom’s Pumpkin Roll

It’s still pumpkin season and this sinful dessert will knock your socks off!  It’s elegant looking, it’s simpler than you think to make, and it is SO good! When I was a kid the only pumpkin food that I ever knew of was pumpkin pie.  Someone somehow most likely convinced me to gag a bite down and ever since I never ate anything with pumpkin again.   Fast forward 25’ish years later.  We’re celebrating Thanksgiving and my Mom brings out dessert.  Pumpkin Roll. ‘Uggghh.  I knew I should’ve brought dessert.’ was the speech bubble above my head.  My mom kept telling us that it didn’t taste like pumpkin pie…

“L” is for Lunch…Back to School Lunch

‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year….’ is the song a lot of parents are singing over and over right now as we scramble to get our kids ready for next weeks first day back to school.  For me, I honestly love having my kids home.  That doesn’t mean they don’t get on my last nerve, because they honestly do; and I’m pretty sure I’m on theirs as well!  I just enjoy having my kids around.  As much as I love the whole getting back into a routine, I always miss them when they’re back at school. This picture from 3 years ago still makes me laugh!  True expressions! …
