    Living With Anxiety and Illness

Having anxiety, depression or any type of mental health struggles can make it very hard to get through the day or to even drag yourself out of bed some days.  Lately I’ve noticed my anxiety trying to be the boss and making it difficult for me to even focus or do simple tasks without constantly worrying and stressing over everything.  I know it’s completely normal to have days or sometimes even a week like this here and there; but the hard part of having anxiety (and/or depression/illness….) is to not let it take complete control of your life. Ha! Easier said than done some days, right? When I was a…

    Front Entryway Design and Solutions

I’m kind of stuck at a crossroads in how to update our front entrance lately. I’ve been pinning like crazy and finding some really great ideas, but our entryway is SO small. We have about two sq² of space and when all 4 of us come in or out, it’s very tight.  Over the years I’ve added a few things here and there to help with storage issues, but it’s still not functioning how I really would like it to be.   Here are a couple pictures of that space:           One of my main pet peeves about our current entryway is the rug situation.  ↑↑ I…

Quick and Easy Sweet and Sour Chicken

This quick and easy sweet and sour chicken recipe was given to me at one of my bridal showers from a family friend. It’s one of the few recipes I received that day, that I still use. It takes only 5 ingredients and a few minutes to throw everything together in the crockpot and go about your day.                 Check out and purchase Epicure’s 3 Onion Mix     I hesitated to share this picture, because it’s embarrassingly disgusting. Even after I filtered the heck out of it! But it just shows how often I’ve made it. It’s so good!       Over…

Easy Valentine’s Day Activities for Kids

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I though I’d share some cute activities that were always a hit with my boys when they were younger. We’ve never made a big fuss over the day but it was still fun to make heart shaped everything! Every year I tell the boys and my husband to not get me anything.  But, if they do, it’s anything chocolate or handmade that I’m looking for! I think the day is a bit silly, really. I mean – show your family love everyday, right!?! When I was a kid I, my favourite ‘art’ activity was always on this day. I loved it when our…

    Meal Planning

Meal planning is a great way to help save on money, time and your sanity.  I’ve been meal planning for years for the simple fact that 1. I love making lists and it gives my family a visual for our week ahead. And 2., it helps to use up the food you’ve got on hand. Especially that food that gets piled on at the bottom of your freezer or pantry items you’ve been struggling with how to incorporate into a meal. I don’t have or use anything fancy for our meal plans.  Just use a piece of paper in a folder where I keep all of my t0-do, to-buy, to-fix…

Setting Goals or Making Resolutions. What Do You Do?

Hey everyone, Happy New Year!  I hope everyone was able to have some sort of break or downtime over the holiday.  We had a tough week last week. My goals of getting my boys back into the school routine and getting to bed at a decent hour was not an easy task!  Anyone else feel the same?! They were so used to going to bed later than usual for most of their Christmas Break, which meant sleeping in later the following day.  And, add on top of that my oldest, Reed, was not feeling good all week. Ear infection, cough, cold, flu AND our first round of pink eye (for…

    Puppy Chow

This Puppy Chow is NOT for our 4 legged friends, sorry pups!   Puppy Chow is a nutty, chocolaty, crunchy, messy sinful and SO easy to make treat.  My Grandma Smith made this every year for Christmas when we were kids.  It was a fun and yummy treat all of us Smith grand kids seemed to love.  Grandmas always do make the best things, right!? Now, just a couple of decades later, I’ve introduced it to my boys and it’s already become a new favourite at Christmas time. It’s such a fun treat to put out at/bring to holiday functions.  There usually always seems to be one newbie that looks…

    Christmas is in the Air

It’s finally that time of year again, Christmas!!  Every year when November 1st rolls around I find myself thinking back to last Christmas; feeling like it was just weeks ago.     Getting ready for Christmas is usually when I find myself starting to stress out over the anticipation of the holiday. And why?! I know Christmas is not about the perfect cookies and treats (or is it….?) and its not having executing a Pinterest perfect looking house (which is very unpractical, btw!!)  But still, I continue to throw myself into a spiraling rabbit hole each November, yes I start early, by adding more to my  decorating list.  And since I’m…
