Quick and Easy Sweet and Sour Chicken

This quick and easy sweet and sour chicken recipe was given to me at one of my bridal showers from a family friend. It’s one of the few recipes I received that day, that I still use. It takes only 5 ingredients and a few minutes to throw everything together in the crockpot and go about your day.

Check out and purchase Epicure’s 3 Onion Mix

I hesitated to share this picture, because it’s embarrassingly disgusting. Even after I filtered the heck out of it! But it just shows how often I’ve made it. It’s so good!

And the dirtiest recipe card goes to….

Over the years I’ve tweaked it as needed here and there; but the one main ingredient I changed was swapping out the onion soup mix for a NO sodium onion mixture.  Yes, NO SODIUM!!

Nutrition Label for Epicure’s 3 Onion Mix

You know that soup mix in the envelope that was the go-to ingredient for a lot of recipes? Did you know that it has 610 mg of sodium??!!  I can’t even wrap my head around it. Why would anyone even use this stuff anymore!? Read your nutrition labels guys!  That’s way too much sodium! Why wouldn’t you want to swap out that salt-filled-envelope mix with a similar great tasting onion combo that has 0 mg of salt?

Does anyone even use recipe books or have a go-to recipe card anymore? I know I don’t very often – with the exception of this one of course. Pinterest has made it so much easier to quickly find awesome meal ideas.  Let me know how your Sweet and Sour Chicken turned out AND have your also replaced that envelope of salt?! 😝
